3/28/11 4 Months!
Good Afternoon everyone!
Here are Dawson's latest developmental updates:
As baby's belly gets bigger, he doesn't need to be fed as frequently. If he's solely breastfed, he probably wants to eat about six to eight times a day, while if he's not exclusively breastfed, four or five meals per day may do the trick. Either way, he'll let you know if he's not getting what he needs by crying and fussing.
Baby's hands and feet are big sources of entertainment for him, as is putting anything and everything into his mouth. He's learning to discern different textures and flavors, and he's utterly fascinated by the sights and sounds around him. If you notice lots of drool coming out of baby's mouth and lots of toys going in, he may be teething. Babies find comfort in chewing on things when new teeth are sprouting, so make sure you have lots of mouth-appropriate stuff handy.
Dawson is definately acting like he's teething. He does get quite fussy if you don't pay attention when he's hungry. Sometimes he give cues and sometimes he just outright cries! He's been getting much better since Dr. CJ gave him some medicine for his allergies. Thank goodness!!!
We also started Dawson on attempting to get him to eat cereal via spoon. He's so not interested. I don't really think it's necessarily the cereal, since some of his grandparents have attempted to give him things he shouldn't have and he didn't eat those things either. Every other day or so I mix up some cereal and try to give it to him to see if maybe he's more interested than the last time we attempted. So far, no luck. Once he gets the hang of it Dr. CJ would like us to start the yellow veggies when he's around 5-6 months. I'm sure he's going to like those more!
We are still doing tummy time, although Dawson is still protesting. I just keep telling myself, "You're his momma, and he needs to do this." I'll lay him down for about 5 minutes at a time, and sometimes he will tolerate it longer if I'm playing with him. When he's decided he's done, that's all there is to it!
I'll keep you guys updated...
God Bless!
Mrs. S.
